Let’s talk about 6 items to Maximize Your Kitchen & How to Style Them!
I spend a lot of my time in the kitchen so I like to make sure that it is functional but also gorgeous to look at!
For most of us, when we think of the kitchen we don’t necessarily think too much about styling it as we would for other rooms like the living room and bedroom. The kitchen has a lot of built in features such as beautifully crafted cabinetry, countertops, unique backsplashes and appliances. Although there are many ways to take some of the items that we use in the kitchen everyday and amp them up to create a functional and beautifully decorated space!
Keep reading to find out how I take some of my favourite everyday kitchen items and style them to maximize my space!
Get Creative with a Coffee Station
I don’t know about you guys, but the best part of my morning routine is sipping on a strong cup of coffee. Whether you are a coffee lover, or more into matcha or tea, you likely have all the fancy kitchen appliances to create your favourite morning drink. For me, its definitely my Nespresso machine… seriously I could not live without it! With the addition of a good French press coffee on occasion.
Consider getting creative with your kitchen decor by creating a coffee station. Start by designating a space for your coffee machine, French press or kettle. Next think about how you want to organize other items such as tea bags, coffee pods or milk frothers. Glass jars, trays or decorative stands are all great ideas!
Lastly, I like to add something pretty to bring the whole decor scheme together. Consider using some form of greenery like succulents or fresh flowers!
Get Organized with Decorative Trays
While keeping on the theme of organization and zoning your decor pieces, consider incorporating decorative trays into your design scheme. This is a fabulous way to group like minded items together to create a more functional and beautiful space.
For example, think about transferring your hand and dish soap into nice bottles and placing them onto a decorative tray. Not only does this look visually appealing, but it is super functional and clean.
You may also want to try placing some of the everyday items that you use in the kitchen such as fresh herbs, lemons, cookbooks or candles onto decorative trays. This helps to create a home for items that you will likely use within the kitchen in a visually appealing way. This builds a homey vibe that is cozy and pretty to look at! Not to mention, totally functional!
Style the Kitchen with Books
Consider putting your cookbooks out on display! There is really no need for them to be stuffed away in the pantry. Having them out for everyone to see creates dimension within your space and will also encourage you to use them!
You can place them vertically against other decor items like fresh flowers or greenery to add height. Or you can lay them horizontally and place beautiful bowls or vases on top for a fun, fresh look! I am also a big fan of decorative book stands like pictured above! They are super functional, but also create a statement in the kitchen.
Put Your Dutch Oven on Display
Okay since investing in a proper dutch oven, I totally understand what all the hype is about! They have got to be one of the most versatile cooking items out there!
The thing about dutch ovens is that they are often quite large and very heavy so they can be difficult to store. Although, truthfully there really is no reason to store them away when you can put them on display in your kitchen! Dutch ovens often come in pretty colours so you can customize them to match your personal style.
Consider placing your dutch oven onto your stove top when you are not using it. This allows them to be out of the way from other kitchen activities that may be going on throughout the day, while also being visually appealing!
Get Cozy with a Runner
A runner is basically a long rectangular area rug that is great for areas like the hallway and the kitchen. I know what you are probably thinking… but yes it is totally acceptable to place an area rug in the kitchen!
I love the look of them in the kitchen because they ground the space and make it more comfortable and cozy on your feet! A runner is also a great way to add a pop of colour, texture or pattern into the kitchen to create a beautiful visual!
The great thing is that there are plenty of runners out there that are durable and easy to clean!
Let Your Bar Stools Shine
Most kitchens are designed with an island that can accommodate extra seating. Choosing the right bar stools for your space can be a super fun task that allows you to get creative!
Let your bar stools shine and create a statement within your kitchen! First you have to make sure you are looking for the proper height so that they can function properly. Then you can focus on the fun part… the visual! Think about incorporating texture, pattern and colour like the photos above.
