Have you ever tried a Classic Gin Sour Cocktail?
…because my goodness are they ever DELISH!
I have always loved sipping on a good Amaretto Sour, so I started experimenting with different flavours.
Shortly after playing around with several ingredients, I came to realize how amazing a Gin Sour was! They are perfectly tart, yet refreshingly sweet all at the same time… not to mention, they are also very pretty to look at!
For me, when it comes to making cocktails at home, the easier the recipe, the better!
If I can help it, I prefer not to complicate things with time consuming ingredients like fancy simple syrups. As delicious as they can be, I also like to have a few simple and easy go-to recipes to shake up whenever I’m in the mood for a tasty beverage.
My Gin Elderflower Sour is soooo good and extremely easy to make! It is light and refreshing and has everyone wanting another!
Traditionally a Classic Gin Sour calls for gin (…duh), citrus (usually lemon), some form of sweetener and a frothing element (usually an egg white or sometimes even aquafaba).
For my recipe, I am keeping things simple by replacing the sweetener (usually a simple syrup) with some Sunrype Apple Orange Peach Juice. It adds the perfect hint of sweetness to balance out this cocktail for the most crave-able sip.
However, the star ingredient of this cocktail has got to be the St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur! It has such a unique floral flavour that brings out notes of peach. It pairs exceptionally well with gin and lemon, making this Gin Elderflower Sour one of my all time favourite cocktails!
You have got to try it, I really think you are going to love it!
Gin Elderflower Sour
Ingredients:
1oz Hendricks Gin
1oz St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
1/2 lemon, juiced
1.5oz Sunrype Apple Orange Peach Juice
1 egg white (1 tbsp)
Method
Add a few ice cubes into a cocktail shaker and pour in the gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon juice, apple orange peach juice and egg white.
Shake until all of the ingredients are combined and foamy.
Strain and pour into a cocktail glass and add a few ice cubes to fill the glass. Garnish with an edible flower if you like and enjoy!
Cheers!
Recipe Notes
If you don’t have Hendricks Gin, feel free to use any other brand of gin that you prefer.
If you have an egg allergy, you can substitute the egg whites with aquafaba (the liquid in a can of chickpeas). Either one of these ingredients are great for adding that velvety froth on top of the cocktail.
I hope you find this Gin Elderflower Sour as refreshing and delicious as I do!
