False lashes are among the few things within our beauty routines that can make you feel totally gorg… but also can get you feeling extremely frustrated at the thought of applying them. For me, false lashes are a staple in my beauty routine and I am here to teach you how to apply them like a pro!
Strip lashes in particular can be super intimidating and hard to apply. But truthfully, after a few tips and some practise you will find that they are surprisingly easy to apply once you get the hang of it!
I always opt for strip lashes over lash extensions because I love the convenience of being able to take them off whenever I want. I also really love being able to change up the style of the lashes each day so they always look fresh and beautiful!

Tips to help flawlessly apply strip lashes
Make sure to select the style and size of lash that will fit and compliment your eye the best.
I recommend using black lash glue because I find that it is one of the simplest ways to create a seamless blend.
To help the false lashes last longer, apply mascara to your real lashes first and try to avoid putting it directly onto the falsies.
Opt for a pair of lashes with a thin band for easy application and comfort. The thicker the band, the more difficult the lashes will be to apply. A thicker band can also weigh down your natural lashes.
Don’t over-do it with the lash glue. A little goes a long way!
Allow the lash glue to get tacky before applying the lashes. This makes the application so much faster and easier!
Use black liner to blend any imperfections if needed.
Your Step-by-step Guide to Apply False Lashes like a Pro
First things first…
You want to trim the false lashes to comfortably fit your eye.
Curl your natural lashes and apply a thin layer of mascara. I always like to apply mascara before applying the false lashes because I find it helps create a seamless blend. I try to avoid putting mascara directly onto the false lashes because they can clump up and often don’t look as nice if you want to re-use them for another occasion.
Next, it’s time for the lash glue…
Apply a thin layer of lash glue to the base of the lash. Make sure not to overdue it with too much glue. If you apply too much glue, the process can get super messy and the lashes will slide around and not stay in place.
Allow the glue to slightly dry before applying the lashes (this usually takes around 30 seconds). The glue should not be wet, once it becomes tacky and almost sticky, then your lashes are ready to go. Allowing the lash glue to get tacky before applying the falsies is the most crucial step when it comes to easy and flawless lash application.
Now to apply the false lashes…
Place the falsies as close to your lash line as possible. I usually like to use my fingers for this step as I find it gives me more control, although you can use tweezers if you prefer.
Look down and gently press the base of the false lashes into your lash line. Once you have done that, you want to look up and gently press the underside of the lashes into your natural lash line. This creates the perfect blend between your natural lashes and the falsies.
Using a lash brush, gently brush the lashes. If you can see any separation between your natural lashes and the falsies, you can gently press them together with clean fingertips. If you do this, be gentle and avoid tugging at the lashes.
Lastly you can apply eye liner (personally, I like to use a liquid eyeliner pen on the underside of my lash line) to cover any possible imperfections.
