Strain the Blackberry Mint Julep mixture over a glass that is filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and a fresh blackberry.
Cheers and enjoy!!
Recipe Notes
Personally, I like to muddle the mint, blackberries and simple syrup along with the bourbon. I find this method really helps infuse the bourbon with the fresh flavours in this recipe. If you prefer to prepare this cocktail classically, then you can muddle the mint and blackberries into the simple syrup and add the bourbon at the end.
To make simple syrup at home, combine equal parts sugar and water and gently heat over the stove top until the sugar is fully dissolved. Cool for about 30 minutes and store in an air tight glass jar in the fridge.
I hope you enjoy sipping on this Blackberry Mint Julep this summer!
