Bring on the holiday season with these 6 Christmas Decor Trends for 2022!
Christmas has got to be the one holiday of the year where most people go all out with seasonal decorating. I don’t know about you guys, but my house is filled with beautiful garland and twinkling lights!
Decorating for the holidays creates a festive, cozy atmosphere to enjoy with close family and friends. However it can be a big job, so where do you start!?
First things first, you want to have some inspiration to guide you! Below I am sharing 6 Christmas Decor Trends for 2022 that will hopefully give you some festive inspo to make decorating easy this holiday season!
Embrace Freshly fallen snow with a flocked Christmas Tree
Have you ever seen those beautiful fluffy Christmas trees that appear to have a light dusting of snow covering the branches?? Well that is called a flocked Christmas tree and let me tell you, they are STUNNING.
We are seeing more and more people choosing to decorate with flocked Christmas trees this year because they have a natural, yet elegant feel. This style of tree creates texture and are the perfect canvas for any colour scheme you choose for your decorating.
Create flow by hanging garland asymmetrically
Consider hanging your garland asymmetrically this Christmas for a more whimsical look.
Garland is one of those classic items that we think of when it comes to holiday decorating. You can choose fresh garland with hints of pine, cedar, fir, holly or even eucalyptus branches to fill your home with the most festive aroma. Or you can opt for store-bought artificial garland which has honestly really stepped up its game over the years with the real-life effect.
Once you have selected the style of garland that you want to go with, it’s time to hang it! It can be draped over stairway railings, console tables, pianos, fireplace mantels or even around mirrors. Garland will bring texture and colour to create the perfect festive space!
This year, it is all about placement when hanging garland! We are seeing more and more asymmetrical placements, especially when it come to the fireplace mantel. Draping the garland this way will help to create flow so the eye always has something new and interesting to look at! You can offset the asymmetrical garland placement with flowy ribbons or a grouping of Christmas stockings.
Decorate with Pretty Ribbons
Flowy ribbons are really making a comeback this year! In the past we have seen more classical styled ribbons in holiday decor, however this year we are noticing a shift in the style. Ribbons appear more soft and delicate and are tied in a more natural, un-done way as pictured above.
Ribbons are becoming lovely accent pieces to add colour to garland and a feminine touch to Christmas trees.
Glow with Gold Decor
Over the last couple of years we have noticed gold, bronzy tones to be popping up more and more in home decor, anywhere from hardware to gold trimmed mirrors. This has also been an inspiration when it comes to holiday decor as well.
Neutral colour palettes with pops of gold have carried over after trending last year, and for good reason! Gold perfectly marries a soft neutral feel with a bright and festive design that seamlessly matches almost any home decor style!
Sparkly gold Christmas ornaments, bells, candle holders and Christmas wrapping are all examples of how you incorporate this colour into your holiday decor this year.
Embracing a Natural Woodland Feel
Lately we have noticed a more rustic, woodland feel has been translating over into holiday decorating. Think Christmas in the mountains or country side!
Consider decorating with rustic, homely materials such as pinecones or twigs, natural or woven garland, or the latest trend, dried/ dehydrated citrus fruits. You can slice oranges or lemons and bake then until they become dehydrated and use them as ornaments. You can even string them into beautiful garland.
Set the mood with Candles & Twinkling Lights
Bring your Christmas decor together with candles and twinkling lights to create a cozy space to curl up during the holiday season!
I don’t know about you guys, but when its freezing in the middle of winter, I want to be cuddled up inside a beautifully decorated space. Placing soft twinkling lights and candles around your home sets the mood and creates a welcoming vibe. We see a lot less harsh light fixtures being used during this time of year, and more soft, gentle lighting from the Christmas tree and aromatic holiday candles. You can also consider placing lights cascading down over the windows for a soft, festive glow.
