Who’s Thirsty!? Let’s make my Skinny Lemon Hibiscus Margarita!
Let’s cut to the chase… you are probably wondering, Hibiscus Margarita!? What the heck is hibiscus!? Let me tell you, it is delicious! They are pretty flowers that are known for their vibrant colours! Hence, this gorgeous rose coloured cocktail you are about to learn how to make!
Hibiscus is dried and most commonly made into tea. I am using it in the form of Kombucha! I use the brand Rise because I love the hibiscus flavour it packs and also because there are plenty of health benefits! This kombucha is organic, raw and unpasteurized, low calorie and low sugar! What more could you ask for!?
With all of the issues we are currently facing regarding gyms during this pandemic, at least you now have a yummy recipe for a perfectly delicious skinny margarita! You’re welcome 😉
When it comes to margaritas, tequila is always the star ingredient in any recipe! With this being said, I believe you should always go for the good stuff! Any 100% agave tequila will do! Some of my faves are Don Julio, Herradura or Bandistas.
Another star ingredient in a margarita is the citrus component. Lime is most commonly used, but for my recipe, I am using lemon because it goes so great with the flavour profile of hibiscus. I use a citrus juicer to maximize the amount of lemon juice I can squeeze. Keep in mind, if you are juicing your lemon by hand, you may need to use the juice from a whole lemon. You can be the judge!
This recipe is so refreshing and extremely easy to make! Now let’s get to it! It’s time for me to stop talking and for you to try it out for yourself!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz tequila
1/2 oz cointreau
The juice of half a lemon
Rise Hibiscus Rose Kombucha
Fresh lemon slice for garnish
Ice cubes
Method:
In a cocktail shaker, add ice cubes, tequila, cointreau and fresh lemon juice. Shake until well combined.
Slice a fresh lemon wedge and run the flesh around the rim of your cocktail glass. Proceed to dip your cocktail glass into your choice of rim (salt, sugar, or a mix of both). On a side note, if I am being completely honest, I prefer my margaritas without a rim. But for those of you who like to have one, this recipe is great with a sugar rim, a salt rim, or a combination of the two. I recommend adding some fresh lemon zest to the rim mixture for an extra zing of flavour!
Pour the tequila mixture into your cocktail glass and top with additional ice cubes if needed. Then pour the Rise Hibiscus Rose Kombucha to fill the glass and your skinny margarita is ready to sip!
It’s as easy as that! The perfect, low maintenance skinny margarita!
