Y’all are going to want to try these Cheesy Asparagus Bundles with Garlic Herb Butter!
Light and fluffy puff pastry, melty gruyere cheese, fresh asparagus and melty garlic herb butter all come together to create the perfect bite!
Sounds delicious right!?
Don’t be fooled, these Cheesy Asparagus Bundles with Garlic Herb Butter are easier to make than they look!
First, you’ll need puff pastry. You can buy puff pastry in the frozen section of the grocery store OR you can choose an even easier option and buy a roll of crescent roll dough! I personally love using the crescent roll dough because it is so light and fluffy and it is stored in the fridge so you don’t have to worry about thawing it out.
Next, you need something cheesy! My recipe calls for gruyere… if you haven’t tried it before than you absolutely must rush to the grocery store and pick some up because it is freaking delicious! Gruyere cheese is rich and nutty and melts like a dream!
The next ingredient you will need is pretty obvious… the asparagus!
Asparagus is one of my favourite vegetables and it pairs perfectly with the nutty gruyere cheese and garlic herb butter! I like to choose asparagus with a medium thickness if possible. If you use the super thin asparagus is can become limp very quickly and you lose all of the yummy crunch and texture.
The final step involves smothering these perfect asparagus bundles in a melty garlic herb butter and baking until golden brown… my mouth is watering just thinking about it!
They are truly so simple and totally DELISH! I think you are going to love them!
Cheesy Asparagus Bundles with Garlic Herb Butter
Ingredients:
1 roll of crescent roll dough
24- 28 asparagus
1 cup gruyere cheese, grated
Garlic Herb Butter:
1/2 cup butter
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp dried oregano
Method
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
For the garlic herb butter… warm the butter in a sauce pan over medium heat. Once the butter has begun to melt, reduce the heat to medium low and add in the minced garlic, dried parsley and dried oregano. Keep warm on the stovetop until the garlic becomes fragrant.
Place the crescent roll dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently press together the seams with your finger tips. Using a rolling pin, lightly roll over the surface of the dough to create one large rectangle. Once all of the seams are sealed, cut the dough into 8 equal squares.
Place some shredded gruyere cheese onto the centre of each piece of dough.
Next, place 3-4 asparagus diagonally from corner to corner onto each piece of dough. Fold the two corners up and over the asparagus to create little bundles. Gently press to seal (see photos above for reference if needed).
Place the asparagus bundles onto a greased baking sheet and brush the dough and asparagus ends with the garlic herb butter.
Bake for 10 minutes and remove from the oven. Brush the dough and asparagus with more garlic herb butter and then place them back in the oven to bake for an additional 10 minutes or until they are cooked through.
Enjoy!!
