Let’s make my Tasty Greek Chicken Souvlaki Wraps!
Today I am sharing one of my favourite recipes to make for dinner, Greek Chicken Souvlaki Wraps!
They are super easy to make and great on their own, or served with a fresh and crunchy greek salad on the side, as I always do. I love how fresh and insanely addicting they are!
I love making greek souvlaki wraps for dinner because they are honestly so damn delicious!
My recipe has very similar flavours to the yummy wraps you get at Opa. I’m sure most of you have tried them before… totally mouth watering and full of flavour! I use similar ingredients, such as tzatziki and fresh crumbled feta.
Traditionally a souvlaki wrap means that the meat component is grilled on a skewer and tossed in a marinade typically made from oil, lemon juice, oregano and pepper. My Greek Style Chicken Souvlaki Wraps are not totally authentic souvlaki style, but are just as flavourful and tasty!
I am all about having fun in the kitchen and trying new things! Sometimes that means stepping away from the classics and incorporating your favourite flavours into traditional dishes.
I hope you enjoy my take on one of my favourite greek dishes! Give it a try for yourself 🙂
Ingredients:
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Plain naan bread (4 pieces)
- Tzatziki
- 7-10 cherry tomatoes
- 1/3 of an English cucumber
- Large handful of chopped romaine lettuce (about 1 cup)
- 2 tbsp crumbled feta
- 1 tbsp cajun spice
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Method:
Cut the chicken into bite size pieces and toss with the olive oil and the spices (cajun spice, garlic powder and onion powder). In a non-stick frying pan, heat a small drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add in the chicken, stirring occasionally.
While your chicken is cooking you can prepare the toppings for your wrap. Julienne the cucumber into approximately one inch long strips and slice the cherry tomatoes length wise into bite size pieces. Roughly chop the romaine lettuce. Set aside.
Once the chicken is cooked through, remove from heat and set aside.
Heat a clean non stick pan over medium heat (or you can use a grill, which gives great flavour!). Do not add any oil and leave the pan (or grill) dry. Place the naan bread into the pan and heat until warm. Make sure to flip often so it does not burn or become dry.
Once the naan bread is nice and warm, your wrap is ready to put together! Spread a generous amount of tzatziki onto the naan bread. Layer on the chicken, approximately half a chicken breast per wrap. You can then follow with the remaining toppings; cucumber, cherry tomatoes and romaine lettuce.
The final touch is to sprinkle on some crumbled feta! Feel free to add some cilantro for an extra hint of freshness.
Place some parchment paper around your wrap to hold it together and it is ready to eat!!
I hope you enjoy this meal as much as I do! Make sure to tag me on instagram is you try out any of my recipes 🙂
